With a 7% contribution to European GDP, creative industries represent a real potential of growth and innovation for Europe whilst being at the very heart of its rich and diverse cultures.
The shift to a digital economy has created unprecedented pressure on creative industries with many challenges and opportunities for their development. This has been the source of much debate and legislative activity, with several European directives, either in preparation or under revision that will shape the regulatory landscape in which these industries will operate in the future.
Economic experts will be invited to present the evolution of the business models, the role of innovation in the development of creative industries as well as the critical and specific growth challenges they face.
Decision-makers and stakeholders will be represented by Members of the European Parliament from all main political groups as well as creative industry constituencies’ figureheads, including trade unions organizations. Panel members will be invited to contribute to the debate by responding to the following questions:
How can the innovation, growth and development of creative and cultural industries in Europe be accelerated?
What are the main challenges to succeed in terms of regulation?
How can cultural diversity be kept and encouraged?
The main objective of this Conference is to create a positive dialogue around these critical themes in a timely manner in view of the European Commission’s expected communication timeline.
