Creation of the Association of the Friends of the Europe Around Europe Festival

on 15th February at the Musée de la Poste, Paris

Dear friends,

We are happy to announce the seventh edition of the Europe Around Europe Film Festival from 14 March to 14 April in Paris.

The Festival will present 65 films by masters of classic and contemporary cinema, and host filmmakers from 33 countries throughout Europe. The theme this year is "Sound and Silence": the sounds and silence of history, of societies , and of people and creatures: the power of words, of music, of things left unsaid, of secrets and censure, of media cacophony, the sound of arms, the sonic manifestations of nature, the silence of the universe... and explosions of joy  and bursts of laughter.

The diversity of the films shown, their quality, and debates with the filmmakers and producers will, as always, provide a  unique window on the cultures of our fellow Europeans, the way they see and project themselves. It’s a way of getting to know Europe in all its diversity, and to see its unity and its identity in new lights.

This 7th Europe Around Europe Festival happens with the co-operation of many associations and regional partners, and in venues as diverse as the Entrepôt, the Studio des Ursulines, the Filmothèque du Quartier Latin, the Forum des Images, Studio 104 in Pantin, and in a number of  Cultural Centres and Institutes (Finnish, Hungarian, Serbian, Czech, the Goethe Institute), and at multi-disciplinary centres (Maison d’Europe et d’Orient, the Door Gallery, Musée du Montparnasse). There will also be decentralised events throughout the year in Normandy, Alsace and the greater Paris region.

And so, in order to consolidate, perpetuate and develop the festival, we have decided to  found the Association of the Friends of the Europe Around Europe Festival.

The Founding Assembly will take place on 15 February
from 5 to 7 pm at the Musée de la Poste in Paris

This will also be the occasion to present this year’s
Festival and all the events connected with it.
