CERCLE DES JEUNES (YES-EU!) : Education and employment: What are the key challenges faced by young people from Eastern and Central European countries?

We are very glad to invite you to our next meeting

Wednesday 7th of July 2014 from 6:15 pm to 8 pm
At Confrontations Europe Brussels' Office
19-21 rue du Luxembourg (subway Trône)

Education and employment: What are the key challenges faced by young people from Eastern and Central European countries?

The record level of youth absenteeism registered in the last European elections in the CEE countries made us especially eager to explore what is behind, and to learn more about the socio-economic and political realities that young citizens from these countries are currently facing. That is why, we decided to organise a meeting with a focus on education and employment of youngsters from these countries, in order to understand better what kind of constrains young people from Central and Eastern Europe have to cope with once they graduate and they are making the transition from education to employment.

We would like to focus mostly on three countries: Poland, Slovakia and Lithuania. We have the pleasure of welcoming the following keynote speakers:

- Margarita STARKEVICIUTE, Economist, former Member of the European Parliament for Lithuania

- Tom VRIJENS, ACV Jongeren, ETUC Youth Committee Bureau Member

- a representative of the Committee of the Regions (to be confirmed)
