On 14 and 15 April, Confrontations Europe and Sauvons le Climat hosted an Entretiens européens conference in Paris entitled “Looking for clean cars”. Several companies and stakeholders were actively involved in this innovative event, which painted a broad picture of the current situation in Europe and across the world, and of ongoing low-carbon vehicle projects. One thing is evident: the clean car represents not only a technological revolution, but also a social challenge.

The financial crisis is far from over, even if the worst is most likely behind us. Two key factors have been identified as root causes of the downturn, and these failures need to be addressed rapidly: (i) serious shortcomings in terms of micro-supervision, a lack of macro-supervision and, more generally, inadequate regulations that have exacerbated the second factor: (ii) considerable international macro-economic imbalances in a context of fierce global competition.
